DUTCH CEMETERY

Revolutionary War soldiers and the ghost of a post-Civil War hanging victim are notable residents of this tiny cemetery at the south entrance of town. Its two lots were granted to the Palatinate German Church (Dutch is in fact a mistranslation of Deutsch) in the initial 1777 sale. No church was ever built. Grand summer “cottages” were on nearby lots in the late 19th century.
